Played God of War 3 over the weekend.
Started Friday morning, finished Sunday morning.
Played on Normal
Total playing time: 13:31
Total kills: 1737
Couldn't update all weapons, couldn't max health bar.
Initial impressions:
Graphics is really sick, never seen before such lighting, motion blur effects.
Graphics quality is not completely consistent, but at it's best it tops every console game I have seen..
Not too much changed game play wise, but the combat is really balanced and the new weapons are very handy..
Titan game play is amazing, but do not expect several hours on Titans..
Overall I'm very satisfied, my only concerns are, that the lack of physics processing makes some moves to look dated. (e.g, enemies hitting walls, Kratos standing still while Titan is moving with high velocity, static levels, like wooden bridge, chains not moving at any impact)
But in the end it's an amazing game, the graphics, the intensity, the music, the story is above the competition with quite a margine.
You won't be disappointed.
PS: If you complete the game, make sure to watch the credits till the very end

God of War Collection leakad footage
Today the first video from God of War Collection was leaked. It seems to be an all in-game gfx trailer. The sound quality is so bad, you should watch it with muted speakers. The video quality is also not the best, but you can see, that the game will actually look really good in High Definition with 2x AA. Please note, that the video only contains footage from the 2nd God of War, which already had a hidden HD mode on PS2. We will see, how the first God of War in the collection will look. Anyway this Collection seems to be one of the biggest surprises this year and you can recommend to anybody looking for some serious fun this holiday season..

It's confirmed, that it will be the E3 demo, but it's not known yet, if it will be a newer build, or not. For the original article click here. The site also hints, that there will new video footage in the near future. Hopefully TGS (starting tomorrow) will show us some new footage..

New God of War 3 delveoper interviews

There are 2 new developer interviews available since last week.
One is a CGSociety interview with Art Director Ken Feldman and Lead Animator Bruno Velazquez. This is more for the technical minded, but easily understandable and really interesting.
The other interview by Electric Playground is a more personal story about Chris O'Neil, and how he has became God of War 3 Senior Level Designer. Here I have to give thanks to Jason for the heads up. Hit the jump for the articles.
Some bits from the CGSociety interview: "The programmers were able to create a system that allows the artist to use up to 50 lights per game object while not using the graphics processor. All dynamic lighting is done on the PS3’s SPUs. We separate direct light (dynamic lights and baked shadowing light) from indirect (ambient, skylight, bounce). This allows us to merge baked and dynamic shadows by blocking direct light."

Sony makes the God of War Trilogy complete on PS3

First of all, I do apologize for being away for such a long time! I do not want to go in too much details or find excuses. I was simply disappointed due to lack of news and haven't followed up the news as the summer ended.
Finally we have really great news!
Seems to be a great holiday season for God of War and PS3 fans. God of War was never before as accessible for PS3 owners as now. Yes, Sony Santa Monica has listened to the fans. God of War I + II is coming to PS3 this holiday season..
It means, that on a single Blue Ray disc you will get the first 2 games for PS3 in 720p /60 FPS glory. This is a must buy for all video game lovers around the world. Remember, if you have never played God of War I or II before, you have to play these games before the final chapter hits, not only to follow up the story, but also for the simple reason, that this 2 games are among the best video games ever created and simply outperforms almost all next-gen games in all aspects. Gone will be the screen tearing and frame rate problems, caused by the beyond it's very limit pushed PS2.
Considering also the PS3 299,99 $ price tag, God of War trilogy was never closer to us.
Visit the blog of Bruno Velazquez or the original source Kotaku for the announcement and comments, or read the official press release here.
For the God of War Collection IGN Q 'n' A click here.
You can already pre-order God of War Collection also via DestroyOlympus store on Amazon here.
What else happened, while I was hiding..
Some nice screen-shots were released showing of the Hades fight. Click here to have a look at them, or here to see, what Bruno Velazquez, lead animator for God of War 3 had to say about them. Finally read the Gamepro article, which deep-analyze this screens.
Other source for screen-shots with an additional really nice Concept Art here.
Some information about the voice actors are revealed here.
It's preatty much spoiling possible characters for God of War III, but actually we do not know, if all of them will be in-game charachters, or some of them will appear in cut scenes only.
This is all for now folks! It was good to be back again.
I have to say, I'm excited now.. but I need more God of War 3 info now!!!
I'll try to update during the Fall more frequently. Do not forget, that God of War 3 will be at TGS this year. Hope to see some nice new screens, maybe a trailer.
P.S. Sony Computer Entertainment America: There are some epic games, which should be also ported to the PS3. I mean here ICO and Shadow of the Colossus in the first place. This games are EPIC, but the response times and laggy controls killed them for me. This issues could be easily addressed this way..
